The Stained Glass of Frederick Preedy (1820-1898), by Michael Kerney

This attractive book, published by the Society in 2001, follows a remarkable discovery - the archive of designs for stained glass by Frederick Preedy (1820-1898). The book catalogues all the designs, and provides a topographical listing of where the glass may be seen. It has eight full colour plates, and eight black and white illustrations.

In addition to the catalogue there is a useful introduction, describing Preedy's life and work. His early glass in particular is amongst the finest of the High Victorian period. He worked closely with Butterfield, and later for William White and S.S. Teulon. He was also an architect in his own right.

This book will be of interest to all those who enjoy Victorian stained glass.
