NEWS UPDATE (return to top of page)

December 2011:
Edition 44 of Ecclesiology Today is at the printers, and is expected to be in members' hands by late January.

July 12 2011: There were hold-ups at the printer, but the book is now printed and bound, and will be despatched to members in mid July.

April 2011
: The book on pews is now at the printer, and will be posted to members once printed. You can steal a look at the contents page here. Members should have received a mailing at the end of March with the programme for the year.

March 2011: The book on pews has been booked for printing in April 2011, and will be posted to members once printed. The Society's event programme will be mailed to members in March.

December 2010
: The forthcoming edition of Ecclesiology Today (no. 43) is being seen through the press, and we expect it to be posted to members at the turn of the year. The book on church seating and pews has taken longer than we expected to publish, and we now expect it to be printed in January or the first part of February. We apologise for the delays: the book is lengthy and the final stages have taken (much, much) longer than expected. It will be posted free of charge to members.

March 2010
: We have previously announced a special edition of Ecclesiology Today devoted to pews and church seating - history and future. This important topic has attracted considerable interest, and the volume has now grown to full book length, of about 300 pages. It has therefore been decided to issue it as a free-standing book rather than an issue of Ecclesiology Today. It will, of course, be issued free to members. This will therefore replace the two issues of Ecclesiology Today which would have appeared in 2009.

Part of the cost of this publication has been defrayed by a grant from English Heritage, and by a donation from the estate of the late James Johnston, our previous Secretary.

Almost all the articles in the book have been specially written, and some have involved fresh research especially for the purpose. This, and the sheer scale of the enterprise, have slowed things down. Most of is now typeset, but it will inevitably be a little while before the book is published. We apologise for this delay.

You will be pleased to know that the next issue of Ecclesiology Today is already being typeset, and we expect to issue that in June 2010, as the first issue for this year. Articles for the following issue following are also now in, and will soon be typeset, for publication towards the end of 2010. Thus we hope and intend that we will catch up with our publication schedule in June this year and maintain momentum beyond that.

Annual reports and accounts

The annual reports and accounts for the past few years are at the bottom of this page - just scroll down.

Subscriptions
For UK members, you can pay subscriptions by standing order or by cheque. We love those who pay by standing order as it makes our Treasurer's life so much easier. Roughly three quarters of our members do. Incidentally, you have complete control over your standing order - only you can instruct your bank to change it, and you can cancel at any time.

Subscriptions are due on 1 January each year, paying in advance for that calendar year. We send out a subscription form with the January edition of Ecclesiology Today, and that is the time to convert to standing order, if you are moved to do so.

If you are not sure of your subscription position, send us an e-mail.

Gift Aid
You can substantially increase the income of the Society without cost to yourself (so long as you are an income tax payer). By claiming Gift Aid, we can reclaim from the Inland Revenue 28p in the pound of your subscriptions, without further action on your part - one form covers the past and the future. You don't need to enter it on your Tax Return (though if you are a higher rate taxpayer, you might like to, as you then receive back from the Revenue the difference between standard and higher rate tax for the subscription). You can fill in a Gift Aid Form any time. If you can't remember whether you have done one, then just fill in and send us another - we will spot the duplication, and it will do no harm. Here is the Gift Aid form.

Society tie

We produced a Society tie a couple of years ago, but these have now sold out. Sorry.

Back publications
We have been reorganising our stock of back publications, and will be publicising availability soon. In the meantime, you might like to look at our publications page.
