Number of churches in Greater Norwich

The mistake. Table 4.6 incorrectly states the number of churches in Greater Norwich as 20. The correct figure is 60, as stated in the text.

Impact? None.

How did we make the mistake. Typo, and poor proof reading.

Average numbers attending on Sunday

The mistake. On page 18 the report says that 'In 2001, the average Sunday attendance over the whole country was 75 adults per parish, 60 per church building'. These figures are wrong. The correct figures for adults are 67 per parish, 54 per church building.

Impact? This does not affect the argument of this section.

How did we make the mistake? The mistake was made in two stages, over the six-month period in which the paper was put together. The main mistake was to use figures for all-ages, then say they were for adults only. Very silly. The second mistake was to use 'usual Sunday attendance' rather than 'average Sunday attendance', a change of approach which was made to the entire paper a month or so before finalisation, but was not carried through to this calculation. (For the difference between the two measures, see Appendix G of the paper.)
