Dr Digi's image for May 2003 (caption at bottom)
tarranth altar rails

Part of the screen at Edgefield, Norfolk, showing two panels with the donors shown kneeling.
The first part of the inscription (top left) has been deliberately scratched out some time in the sixteenth or seventeenth century
- this was an invitation to the viewer to pray for the souls of the donor and his family,
and was unacceptable in a Protestant Church of England.
