Medieval roof angel at Dean, Bedfordshire. He holds a pair of pincers, one of the so-called 'Instruments of the Passion',
the tools used to torture and execute Christ over the first Easter weekend. It has been argued that there is a close
relationship between images such as this and the costumes used in medieval Passion Plays, and certainly one can imagine these wings
