An extraordinary chair in the chancel of the Anglican St Mary, Aldingbourne,
Sussex.
This chair has the rare distinction of being mentioned in Pevsner's
Buildings
of England:
'As a rule chairs do not go into the Buildings of England,
but this is a special chair.
With its very rustically carved emblems, it is certainly Catholic,
and certainly outlandish.
Could it come from the Colonies? The date looks early 19th century.'
