Dr Digi's image for August 2000 (caption at bottom)

Detail of the monument to Richard Cave (died 1606 at Padua), St Nicholas, Stanford,
Northamptonshire.

The monument, featuring this 50cm high alabaster effigy, is one of the more
innovative from the Jacobethan era. Unlike his brothers and sisters who are
only represented in profile on the tomb of their parents, Richard Cave's stands
next to the larger monument, connected to it by a small scroll and suggesting
at once his connection to, yet independance from, his parents.
